My dear friends, let’s teach and show the world how to love, connect with, and take care of the earth. Let us remind people that the true path to happiness has nothing to do with money and things. Let us teach those who do not know how to hold the world in wonder and have empathy for people, for plants, for animals, for water.
May we keep facing the shadow of our country and the world. May we come together in love and support to heal our collective wounds. May we remind the world the cyclical nature of our planet. May we engage the hearts of the masses in collective compassion for those suffering in the world.
Let’s kick apathy out of the public consciousness, let’s cure the finite pool of worry with collective change. Change on the spiritual, cultural, and psychological level.
We have to get to work for compassion and love. We have to hone our skills so that we are able to carve a better future for us all in the name of compassion and love. I keep thinking of the quote going around from the environmental lawyer, Gus Speth: “I used to think the top environmental problems were biodiversity loss, ecosystem collapse, and climate change. I thought that with 30 years of good science we could address those problems. But I was wrong. The top environmental problems are selfishness, greed, and apathy… And to deal with those we need a spiritual and cultural transformation - and we scientists don’t know how to do that.”
But WE do. Artists, spiritual practitioners, healers, social scientists, etc., have always known that this was the case: that the only way to stop climate change is through dismantling our culture of consumerism and corruption. It seems that a lot of people are hoping that science and technology will save us. It won’t. We have to change the way the masses see the world, the way the media reports it, the way we have been ideologically conditioned to think about it. The fact that it took a lawyer/scientist to validate this fact for me, to believe in it, proves how true this is.
It may be a daunting task, but we can do it. We are awakening. Healers & feelers, let us come together to show the way of compassion, conservation, harmony, and justice.
